Whether you're going to buy furniture or you already have some you always need to know:<br />
<div>
1. Where you're going to put it</div>
<div>
2. Will it fit?</div>
<div>
<br />
My sister and I measured our room, how wide it was and how long. (Do not include the closet when you're measuring.) Then we took some graph paper (<a href="http://www.waterproofpaper.com/graph-paper/grid-paper.shtml">http://www.waterproofpaper.com/graph-paper/grid-paper.shtml</a> this link has six different free printouts.) and used one square per foot. So lets say your room is 10 feet wide and 12 feet long (just random numbers that popped into my head). You would cut out a piece of graph paper 10 squares wide and 12 squares long. So you would have a rectangle with 10 squares going to the side and 12 squares going down (I'm doing my best to explain this so it makes sense, if it doesn't then feel free to ask questions in the comments). </div>
<div>
<br />
Then you're going to measure all the furniture you want in your room, your beds, your dresser, vanity, desk, and any other furniture you might have. It doesn't matter how tall it is since you'll just need to know how much room it will take up on your floor. So measure the bottom of the piece of furniture, width and length, and cut it out on the graph paper, the same way you did for your room.</div>
<div>
<br />
Once you have all of your pieces of furniture cut out (don't forget to label them) you're going to start arranging them on the piece of graph paper that's representing your room. This is going to tell you how much furniture you can fit in your room and what would be the best way to arrange it. </div>
<div>
<br />
The next step is to put the furniture into the room. It may take a couple times of rearranging to find the best set up, but you'll find it. Remember, you may have to compromise with this. You may not have room for your keyboard because of your dresser. Or your vanity won't fit because of your nightstand. But maybe you will have room for everything. Just don't shove everything into your room. Remember, you need walking space too : )</div>allyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-76831780127810122482012-07-30T13:20:00.001-07:002012-07-30T14:14:34.561-07:00Outfit of the Day 7/30/12<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

One of my favorite ways to dress up a simple t-shirt and jeans outfit is to add a cardigan. You can choose any color but I decided to go with this teal one that I bought from TJ Maxx the other day. I love the color and it's also super lightweight, perfect for summer : )</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I paired this look with my favorite black sandals, a big silver bracelet, and of course, my aviator sunglasses. I'm really happy with this outfit and I hope you guys like it too : )</div>

In this post I'm going to tell you that sometimes you have to be last. <div><br /></div><div>Both my sister and I had to make sacrifices when it came to organizing our room. Kathryn didn't like having a dresser so we made storage beds and got rid of the dresser. I love our beds but I liked having our dresser too. It gave us more space to store our clothes and a place to have a lamp. </div><div><br /></div><div>We tried to compromise when it came to the dresser. We were given a bunk bed that had a trundle bed underneath. It had drawers, a desk, and a storage area in the back. In the daytime we would roll the trundle bed underneath and we would have a lot more room. But at night when ever someone rolled around on the top bunk the door to the storage area would open and close. Also we would hit our heads on the ceiling or the fan in the summer because the top bunk was only about a foot away from the ceiling. The bed didn't work so we gave it to someone else. <span style="font-size: 100%; ">We tried bed frames and storing some of our stuff under our beds but that ended up just being a huge mess.</span></div><div><br /></div><div>I really liked having the dresser but my sister didn't. So I agreed to getting rid of the dresser and building storage beds.</div><div><br /></div><div>I wanted to paint the trim pink and my sister doesn't like the color pink AT ALL. But she still let us paint it pink. </div><div><br /></div><div>I know that it can be hard to "be last" but sometimes it's better to just say "Ok, we can do it your way" than to argue about it.</div><div><br /></div><div>So if you try compromising something and nothing is working out then just remember, sometimes you have to be last : ) </div>allyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-83211630546987829262012-02-08T17:56:00.004-08:002012-04-03T16:43:12.956-07:00One Sis Two Sis Me Sis You Sis: Compromise<div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">My sister Kathryn and I are best friends, but we're also complete opposites. This is really hard when you're sharing a room because you both have your own decorating styles. You may want different furniture, different colors for the wall, a different floor lamp. Whatever it is, really your only choice is to compromise. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; "><br /></div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">I know it seems simple but when it comes to it, compromising can be really hard. When Kathryn and I decided to redo our room we both had completely different ideas of what it was going to look like. Our room has bright green walls, black chalkboard doors, black baseboards and hot pink trim. In my mind our room was going to be light purple with dark purple trim. Kathryn wanted it to be red. But when we talked about it we eventually decided to paint it how it is now and we both love it. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; "><br /></div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">Here is a list of some ideas for compromising:</div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">1. Each person takes a piece of paper and fold it in half so you have two columns. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">2. Label one column "yes" and the other "no way".</div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">3. Each person writes down what she would really like to have or do in the yes column and what she absolutely can't deal with in the no way column. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">4. Get together and compare. If one of you has something in the yes column that is a no way for the other persons column, cross it out.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">5. Highlight anything that you both have in the yes column.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">6. Go over anything that is in each of your yes columns and highlight anything you agree on. You might be surprised that you have the same ideas, or a great idea that the other didn't think of. </div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; "><br /></div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; ">Hopefully, you have agreed on some items and can start making a plan. If you can't come up with a plan, come back tomorrow and read my post on preferring others : )</div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; "><br /></div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; "><br /></div><div style="font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 100%; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal; "><br /></div>allyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-80973014477530582162012-02-08T17:49:00.003-08:002012-04-01T19:56:35.987-07:00One Sis Two Sis Me Sis You Sis: How to Share a Room with Your Sister and Survive.I am beginning a new blog series called <span style="font-style: italic;">One Sis Two Sis Me Sis You Sis: How to Share a Room with Your Sister and Survive</span>.<br /><br />My sister and I share a medium sized room, and it can be hard sometimes. I've tried searching for organization tips specifically for sisters sharing a room, but I haven't been able to find any information. Since there doesn't seem to be anything on this subject I figured I would write about it myself.<br /><br />In this series there will be a new blog post every day covering organization, decluttering, keeping your room clean, decorating, and getting along with your sister as you organize your room.<br /><br />I'm not an expert on any of this. I will also be trying to improve myself as I write this series. I will be sure to reference any sources that are helpful.<br /><div><br /></div><div>I hope you enjoy this series and find it helpful : )</div>allyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-33903440581694492162012-01-16T14:45:00.000-08:002012-01-16T14:50:40.106-08:00What Happens When the Freezer Door Won't Stay Closed (FMAB)<p align="LEFT" style="margin-bottom: 0in">My sister and I were eating lunch and the freezer door kept opening. So naturally we thought of what would happen if the freezer door wouldn't close in Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and this is what we came up with. </p> <p align="LEFT" style="margin-bottom: 0in"><br /></p> <p align="LEFT" style="margin-bottom: 0in">The story begins with everyone visiting Hughes (who is not dead!!!) to see his new baby. They are all sitting at the dinner table when all of a sudden the freezer door opens. Hughes gets up and closes it then comes to sit back down at the table. The door opens again and he closes it again. This process repeats almost a thousand times when finally Mustang blasts it with fire. When the fire finally goes out they realize that the fire just made the situation worse because now the whole kitchen was filled with smoke. So Hawkeye pulls out a gun and starts shooting the fridge, after she runs out of bullets in 13 guns she finally gives up. Ed is walking up to the freezer to see what he can do when Winry says that he can't do anything cause he can't reach the freezer. This comment results in lots of yelling from Ed and then Winry hits the freezer with her special wrench that no one knows where it comes from. Al tries to comfort and fix the fridge with alchemy but it is just destroyed again. Elisia tells her “boyfriend” that if he doesn't make the freezer door stop opening then she will break up with him. Hughes pulls out his gun and aims it at the little boy and Hawkeye shoots his gun. Everyone yells at Hawkeye and she shoots at them all (missing on purpose). This continues to happen until finally someone (we don't really know who it was all a big mess of smoke by this time cause no one had completely put out Mustang's fire) attacked Hawkeye. Mustang got angry and tried to kill them but Hawkeye got mad at him and told him that she could take care of herself. She shot at him (again, purposely missing) and handed him a stack of paperwork as tall as Ed. (Yes, Winry made fun of Ed for being as tall as a stack of paper which started the yelling again.) Then the firemen came and put out the fire and Gracia cleaned everything up. Then the baby woke up (they still hadn't seen the baby even though that was what they came for in the first place) so Gracia brought her out. Then they all sat down to a peaceful dinner when...the freezer door opened.</p> <p align="LEFT" style="margin-bottom: 0in">And what do you think happens next?</p> <p align="LEFT" style="margin-bottom: 0in"> Hope you guys liked it : D</p>allyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-66849553258552409822010-06-24T12:34:00.001-07:002010-08-18T18:38:22.762-07:00Love FestOn Saturday our family worked for something called Love Fest. It is an outreach that has games, groceries, free food, horse rides, and baptisms. I worked as a runner so I just had to make sure that the workers stayed hydrated and everything. Most of the time I actually marked peoples bracelets for the lunch cause they were only allowed to go up two times. My sister, Kathryn, took over that job for me for a little bit so I could ride the horse. Thank you Kathryn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/><br/>About 100 people got saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/><br/>That's about it for Love Fest.<br/><br/>Yesterday we started painting decorations for VBS (read post below). We just did the backgrounds for the murals yesterday and today we painted the people and everything else on them today. One of the murals has a picture of two barrel racers and a guy riding a bull, for worship. Another has water, sky, ground, trees, and buffalo, for the "Bible Buffalo Trail". It's really pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two more are the insides of a farmhouse, both have windows on them and it's really cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That ones for the "Saddle-up Science Lab". And we're putting a gate around the "Craft Corral", which is where I'm working. And then the last place is the "Snack Stampede", we painted a stampede of horses on the window for that one.<br/><br/>I am really excited about this VBS cause, like I mentioned in the last post, I am turning 13 on the first day but it is also my first time playing with a band. I will be singing and playing the keyboard.<br/><br/>That's pretty much it.<br/><br/>~Allysonallyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-51099558818182545152010-06-16T01:36:00.001-07:002010-08-18T18:38:22.727-07:00Vacation Bible SchoolVacation Bible School is coming up at our church. I'm to old to do the games and crafts and everything but I do work there. My aunt and I do the craft section. Our theme this year is going to be Rattlesnake Roundup. It starts June 28 and ends July 1st. I am especially excited because my birthday is also coming up. It actually starts on the first day of VBS (Vacation Bible School). I am going to be thirteen and I can't wait. I will be working on my birthday but that's okay because I love kids. I performed four songs:<br/><br/>Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood (Another girl, Joanna, played the piano for that song and I sang it).<br/><br/>Seventy-Six Trombones from the Music Man ( I played it on the piano and sang it).<br/><br/>Cossack Ride, which is just from my lesson book, I don't know who wrote it ( I just played that on the piano, there is no singing part for it)<br/><br/>and,<br/><br/>This is Me from Camp Rock (I played that one on the piano and sang it)<br/><br/>That's pretty much it for the recital.<br/><br/>Today I am going up north with my grandparents. We are going on a fishing trip. I hope I catch a fish we can actually eat this time, I never have.<br/><br/>That's it for today.<br/><br/>~Allysonallyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-27006510952097999652010-05-14T05:16:00.001-07:002010-08-18T18:38:22.648-07:00North Carolina!!!!!!!!!!!Hey, guess what. Me and my family just went to North Carolina on April 29th and came back May 3rd. We had to drive through 3 states to get to North Carolina. Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.<br/><br/>We stopped in West Virginia to go to Hillbilly Hot Dogs. Hillbilly Hot Dogs is like the best place to eat hot dogs in the world. I got a combo which came with two hot dogs, fries and a pop. I gave my second hot dog to my mom. They gave you a free ice cream cone if you sang their song from memory:<br/><br/>Sonny's the weenie man<br/>He owns a weenie stand<br/>He sells the best weenies around<br/>Ding Ding Ding<br/>Sharie's his weenie wife<br/>She adds the spice that's right<br/>Hillbilly hot dogs day or night<br/>Ding Ding Ding<br/>Yeehaw!!!!<br/><br/>Our whole family did it but we had to do it by ourselves. Dad got the biggest scoop of ice cream cause he had the best yeehaw. That was one of the funnest parts of the trip.<br/><br/>We were going to North Carolina for a missions trip type thing. It was called Gospel Fest. We passed out groceries, played with the kids, and a lot of other stuff. One of the churches supplied houses, one for the boys and one for the girls. The houses were so nice. There was a little cabin thing on the property and when one of the other churches came we were all gonna be standing by it like that was where we were staying. We didn't end up doing it though. They cooked for us, there was canoing, it was so much fun.<br/><br/>At Gospel Fest I was in charge of the bouncy castle. It was really small so I could only let little kids in, and only three at once. I was so tired by the end but it was a lot of fun. I love kids so I was really glad that I got to work there.<br/><br/>When we left we got to go to Virginia Beach. It was so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Then we went to Washington D.C. We saw the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial. It was so fun. We stayed at Hampton Inn for a night after Washington D.C.<br/><br/>That's it for now.<br/><br/>~Allysonallyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-50270729484521775752010-04-28T06:16:00.001-07:002010-08-18T18:38:22.613-07:0030 Hour FamineHey guys. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. There hasn't been much to post about lately. Well, last weekend our youth group participated in something called the 30 Hour Famine. We didn't eat for 30 hours, we slept outside in cardboard boxes, and we played something called tribe games.<br/><br/>For the tribe games everybody was split into 3 different tribes. All of the tribes picked a leader and then each of them got a different card. This card had a person that they would be pretending to be during the games. Each one had something wrong with them and they had to act it out during the games. My girl was named Kedija (keh-dee-juh) she was 9 years old and had lost the ability to speak, so I couldn't talk during any of the games and I don't know sign language.<br/><br/>The first game we played we had to pick one person from each team to put on a blindfold and walk around a little area trying to find a food item first. But there were also balloons to make it harder so if you touched the balloon you were automatically out. Our team came in second on this game.<br/><br/>The second game each tribe got an envelope which had disease, symptom, prevention, and cause cards. Whoever got all of the cards matched in the right order won. Our team won that game!!!!!!!!!<br/><br/><!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]> <![endif]--> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --><!--[if gte mso 10]>--><br/><br/><!--[endif]--><br/><br/><!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]> <![endif]--> <!-- {PS..6} -->The third game was really gross. We had to take a jug of water and walk it to a bucket, pour the water into the bucket, sit down and take our socks and shoes off and put our feet in the water for five seconds, one foot at a time, then we had to dry our feet off with the paper towel under our chair, making sure to save paper towel for the other members of the team, and then go and throw the paper towel out, then we had to go back to the chairs and put our socks and shoes back on and fill the water jug and bring it back to the next person. The water was really dirty but my team did come in second.<br/><br/>The next game was really unfair to our team. Each tribe leader got a few cards with a few words that didn't make sense. The words meant something different and your tribe had to find out what it was, like one of them meant dirty water and stuff like that. The reason it was unfair to our team was because the tribe leader couldn't talk so we only had two people who could talk because Kedija (I) couldn't talk.<br/><br/>The next game was painful. You had a food carrier from each tribe and someone who could steal food. The food carrier and the food thief had to go on the ends and then the other two people had to go in between them and they all linked arms. The food was clipped onto the food carrier (unfortunately I was the food carrier). You had to try and steal other peoples food while protecting your own without touching it. I kept getting whipped onto the ground because they were trying to protect our food. :'(. Our team lost that game.<br/><br/>The last game we had to make something to protect an egg if it fell. You got a some fake money and you had to buy things to make an egg protector. Then you had to go outside with your egg in your egg protector and you were spun around five times, put the egg protector on your head and walk to the line, then you had to throw your egg protector back to the next person in line. All of our eggs broke so everybody lost that round. Our team came in second in the tribe games. That's all of the tribe games.<br/><br/>We played one of them on Friday and the rest on Saturday.<br/><br/>On Friday we also made our box shelters for the night. The girls all shared one and the boys shared one. I will try to post pictures of the shelters soon. We slept in the boxes and I got up at 6:30 cause I couldn't fall back asleep. It was so cold.<br/><br/>On Saturday we dug out a garden for our church. We were all very hungry and tired by then.<br/><br/>The last activity we did was we split up into two teams and went to a grocery store. Each team was given $20.00 and they had to try and get the most food, they were not allowed to go over $20.00 dollars. The food also had to be healthy and non-perishable. Our team lost that.<br/><br/>And then we watched Dennis the Menace and ate pizza. Everyone also tried to get sponsored before the famine and we will be sending all the money we earned to world vision to help feed hungry children around the world. It was so much fun and I hope we can do it again next year.<br/>That's it.<br/><br/>~Allysonallyraehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17892691124578553237noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6547355905486930380.post-35007361307457870182010-03-19T11:08:00.001-07:002010-08-18T18:38:22.574-07:00Winter Words Reading Challenge Completed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I finished the winter words reading challenge just in time.<br/>Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/>Here is my list of the books I read:<br/><br/>S: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen<br/>N: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry<br/>O: Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. I found a new puppy. He was in the street and he had no name tag. My mom said I could keep him. He was a Husky. We went into the house and I found a basket and some old blankets. I put the blankets into the basket and set it by my bed for the dog to sleep in. He jumped into it immediatly. While he was sleeping my family and I went to get him a name tag and some dog bowls. When we went to get his name tag I realized I hadn't given him a name. I thought of one while we were in line. When the lady asked what name to put on the name tag I said, "Arrow" because he had an arrow on his left ear. Then we went home and put his new collar on him.
