State Exploration Assignment 2

The name Michigan probably means "Great Waters." It is a Native American word. Around 1670, different Jesuit missionaries wrote about a lake called "Machihiganing," "Mitchiganons" and similar names. In 1697 the man who founded Detroit called the lake "Michigan." In the mid-1700s, people began calling the lake between Wisconsin and Michigan "Lake Michigan." In 1784 Thomas Jefferson wanted to call what is now Wisconsin "Michigania," but his bill was never passed. In 1805, the Michigan territory was created. It was named after Lake Michigan.

State Exploration Assignment 1

The Michigan state flag was adopted in 1911. On the flag there is a blue shield that says "TUEBOR," which means "I will defend." The shield has a picture of a man holding up a gun. Above the shield is a Bald Eagle holding an olive branch with three arrows on it. Above the Eagle is a red ribbon that says "E PLURIBUS UNUM," which represents The United States motto: "out of many, one." On one side of the shield is a Moose and on the other side is an Elk, which means "I will defend." At the bottom are two white ribbons that say "SI QUAERIS PENINSULAM AMOENAM," and "CIRCUM SPICE," which means, "If you are seeking a pleasant peninsula, look around you."

I am up north with my grandparents and my brothers and sister. Our parents left us up here for a week. It is so fun. We have to go home  Saturday. My grandparents dog has had 4 seizures since we came up. Could you please pray for her.

My brothers are coming home

My brothers are coming home from Camp Sinai today. It's kinda weird hardly having Nathan home that much this summer. I mean he's been on missions for like nine or ten days and now he's been at Camp Sinai for six days.
Yesterday I had an awesome day swimming at my cousin Rebecca's house. 
Well that's all I've really been doing.
