The zoo

Yesterday we went to the zoo!!! It was a lot of fun. I got a lot of pictures. I'm going to put at least a few of them on my blog!! Here they are:

These are the pink flamingos. My dad loves them so I got a picture.

This is a zebra and and I'm not positive what the other thing is.

This is a picture of two giraffes. I sent it to my grandma because she loves giraffes. She is going to print it and hang it in her bathroom.

This is a peacock. I was very surprised when I only saw two of them through the whole trip.

This is a kangaroo with her baby joey!! It's so cute!!!

This is  a picture of a prairie dog. It did not turn out very well because I was looking through the plastic tubes.

I was very surprised when I saw this polar bear outside because it was so hot out!!
That's all!!

peekaboo shrug

Here are a few pictures of a little jacket I made. It is called a Peekaboo shrug. I got the instructions from a book that I got from my library. The book is called get hooked again.
This shrug is seriously just a crocheted rectangle. All you do is sew the sleeves and add a border. Here's the pictures:

Decoupage, instructions and new cover

We started with this light switch cover that we got from Wal Mart's for 20 cents!!!

The picture mom wanted me to use for this light switch cover looked similar to this. This is in the family room so that is why this light switch cover will be in the family room.

In this picture my mom is cutting the picture so that it will fit on the cover. First she had to pick her favorite part of the picture because she couldn't have the whole thing.

This is where I spread the decoupage over the back of the picture with a sponge brush.

This picture is the back of the light switch cover now that I put the picture on it. You have to make sure the corners are tucked in very tightly.

This is the picture after I cut the holes for the light switch cover and screws.

In this picture I am spreading decoupage over the front of the light switch cover, picture, so that it will harden and not rip.

Your cover should look like this when you are done spreading the decoupage over the front.

And here is a picture of the light switch cover.

See you again soon with a new craft!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recent crafts

I have decided to make a section on my blog for my crafts to encourage me to blog more often. Recently my sister and I decoupaged our mom's light switch and outlet covers in the kitchen. They are all Van Gogh because that is her favorite artist. Here are the pictures!:

My sister decoupaged this one.

I decoupaged this one.

My sister did this one.

I did this one.

I did this one.

I did this one.

I will be coming back with pictures of the other one that we are doing in our family room. That one will also have pictures of all the steps and I will explain them.

homeschool kids write assignment #58

For this assignment we are supposed to use the word Spring to make an acrostic poem. Here's mine.
Sometimes sun
Plants growing
Rainy days
In the house, playing games
Now we can go out and play
Green green summer is coming again.

homeschool kids write assignment #40

It started as an ordinary autumn day.  The leaves had begun to pile up outside and the weather had turned colder.  I put on my jacket and went outside.  Then something happened that changed my ordinary day into an extrodinary day. I found a new puppy. He was in the street and he had no name tag. My mom said I could keep him. He was a Husky. We went into the house and I found a basket and some old blankets. I put the blankets into the basket and set it by my bed for the dog to sleep in. He jumped into it immediatly. While he was sleeping my family and I went to get him a name tag and some dog bowls. When we went to get his name tag I realized I hadn't given him a name. I thought of one while we were in line. When the lady asked what name to put on the name tag I said, "Arrow" because he had an arrow on his left ear. Then we went home and put his new collar on him. That is how my ordinary day turned into an extrodinary day.

homeschool kids write assignment #36

For this assignment we are supposed to use the word Autum to make an acrostic poem. Here's mine.

All the leaves falling of the trees.
Uncontrollably the dogs shed.
Time to rake the leaves!!!
Unmistakable breezes blow.
Mums blooming all over the place.
Now it's time for the animals long sleep.
